Recently, JD Health and Dermatix jointly released the 2024 Research White Paper on Medical Silicone Gel, providing valuable insights into the application and market development of medical silicone gel in the scar removal field.
With the continuous increase in people's attention to health and appearance, the scar removal market has shown a trend of rapid growth. From 2019 to 2024, the five-year compound growth rate of sales of scar removal products on the JD platform reached 62%, and the compound growth rate of sales volume reached 84%. Among scar removal products, silicone gel preparations are the first choice for users, accounting for 86% of the sales of all scar removal creams.
In terms of usage scenarios, adult scar removal creams are mainly used for postoperative scar repair, such as cesarean section scars, followed by daily scars from bumps, burns, etc.; children's scar removal creams are mostly used for scars from falls and scratches, mosquito bites, and surgeries. When choosing scar removal products, adults pay attention to reputation, effectiveness, and ingredients. In addition to basic scar removal effects, they also focus on functions such as lightening pigmentation and preventing hyperplasia; the selection of children's scar removal products emphasizes the mildness and safety of ingredients.
Take Dermatix as an example. The added vitamin C ester helps lighten scar pigmentation. As an antioxidant, it can inhibit melanin production and reduce pigmentation, providing users with a scientific, safe, and reassuring scar removal experience.
Furthermore, silicone gel is not only used for scar removal but also widely applied in medical fields such as skin adhesion and transdermal adhesion. According to data from the World Health Organization, burns are the fourth leading cause of injury globally, which provides a broad development space for the medical silicone gel market. Currently, multinational enterprises such as DuPont and Wacker have long dominated the medical-grade silicone gel market. However, as the State Administration for Market Regulation launched an antitrust investigation into DuPont's transdermal adhesive-related business, it has opened a substitution window for domestic raw material enterprises.
