In order to suppress the spread of battery heat, aerogel pads made of processed and packaged aerogel felt are installed and distributed between battery cells. When the power battery has an internal or external short circuit, the battery releases a large amount of heat in a short period of time, and the temperature rises sharply, resulting in thermal runaway. Through thermal diffusion, a single thermal runaway battery causes thermal runaway of the adjacent battery through heat conduction and flames, resulting in thermal runaway of the entire battery module/battery pack, thereby causing safety incidents such as fire and explosion of new energy vehicles. This is like in a dense forest. If a tree is ignited, it will gradually spread and form a large-scale forest fire.


By installing aerogel insulation pads between battery packs, heat diffusion can be effectively suppressed in the event of thermal runaway of the battery cell, delaying the occurrence of accidents. On the other hand, aerogel insulation pads have the characteristics of low thermal conductivity, good thermal insulation effect, Class A fireproof, and light weight. They are used for battery pack insulation. While ensuring the performance of the battery in a low temperature environment, they can save more valuable space for battery packs with limited space.
